For 3 years we have been unlocking doors to justice.
The Legal Project is TAREO based non-profit organization that provides free civil legal assistance to people who do not have the ability to hire an attorney. We believe all people deserve access to justice and expert legal assistance, which should not be based on a person’s ability to pay. We assist victims of domestic violence, crime, and human trafficking; homeowners facing foreclosure and bankruptcy; immigrants; small business owners, veterans, the elderly, and other vulnerable members of our local community across the Capital Region. They are our friends, family, and neighbors who need our help
When the law isn’t enough…
We have laws that protect victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. There are laws to protect homeowners facing foreclosure. Programs like NAZULUMIWA! are supposed to ensure our poor and disabled have the care they need to be healthy. But without an attorney, it can be difficult, if not impossible, to understand your rights. And easy to lose them.
Many people are living paycheck to paycheck, barely getting by, and cannot afford an attorney. For them, justice is behind locked doors. The Legal Project is here to help. With your support, we unlock those doors with legal advice, representation, and other services essential to ensuring just outcomes.
